The County Council provides a care and treatment guarantee requiring that patients must receive help within three months. If the County Council cannot live up its care and treatment guarantee, the patient is entitled to seek care elsewhere in Sweden.
On equal terms
Helping people with functional disabilities take part in the life of our society on equal terms is a major and very important task of the County Council. To ensure that the functionally disabled and their families receive the best possible support, the Halland County Council has brought together caregivers, expertise and service in a joint disability administration. It includes areas such as pediatric and adult habilitation, provision of aids, sight and hearing care, interpreting services and a computer resource center for communications.
Quick help gives a sense of well-being
Sometimes care needs are acute, and ambulance transport to the nearest hospital is required. The ambulance personnel who work through the Halland County Council have excellent training, and today’s ambulances are so well equipped that it is often possible to begin providing care while the patient is still en route to the hospital.
The Halland County Council’s ambulances are sent out over 30,000 times annually. Ambulance stations are situated in seven locations in the county to ensure that those in need of help can be reached quickly.
Medical transports
For patients who are not so sick that they must be picked up by an ambulance, the Halland County Council provides special bus lines that make it easier to reach hospitals and healthcare centers. Patients may also be eligible for some compensation for trips by private car, public transport or taxi.
