On democratic foundations
The Halland County Council is a politically controlled organization. Its highest decision-making body is the County Council Assembly, the Council’s equivalent of a parliament. The Assembly includes 71 representatives who are elected by county residents every four years.
The County Council’s “cabinet” is the County Council Executive Committee, which has 13 members. The Committee considers and drafts policy statements on all matters to be decided by the Assembly, and makes decisions on many matters itself.
In addition to the County Council Executive Committee, there are nine political committees responsible for various areas within the County Council.
