If you need advice about healthcare – call the County Council’s Medical Care Telephone Help-line, 1177.
You can speak to an experienced nurse 24-hours a day who can give you medical advice. If you feel ill or have suffered an injury, the nurse can advise you as to whether there is something you can do to alleviate the problem on your own or if you need to see a district nurse or a doctor.
Calls to the Medical Care Telephone Help-line cost the same as a local phone call, regardless of where in Halland you place the call (an additional start-up fee of 52 öre will be added).
In an emergency - call 112
If there has been an accident or if someone is seriously ill, call 112 and explain the situation. The staff at SOS Alarm has had medical training and can give you advice while you wait for an ambulance.
Non emergencies
If an ambulance is required for non-emergencies or for planned medical transportation, call 035 – 21 14 80.
The Poisons Information Center – answer questions concerning poisons 24-hours a day. In an emergency, call 112 - request poisons information.

Pharmaceutical Information Service – answer questions concerning pharmaceuticals, call 0771 - 46 70 10 (Mon-Fri, 8.00am - 5.00pm).
Self treatment – what you can do on your own
In the self-care book “Egenvårdsguiden” (On your own), you can read about a number of common conditions that you can treat on your own. There is also advice on when it is advisable to contact the Medical Care Services. In addition, tips on appropriate non-prescription medicines are provided. The book is free of charge and is available at health centers and pharmacies throughout the county. You can also order it by calling the County Council’s Brochure Ordering Department on 035 – 13 48 00 or via the County Council’s website.
