Patient’s fees paid to the County Council’s healthcare providers and private healthcare centers financed by public funds in Halland, Skåne, Blekinge, Kronoberg, Västra Götaland and Jönköping counties may be counted towards in the monthly based high-cost limit. However, the opportunity to make use of the SEK 400 limit is restricted to Halland.
An example:
You have paid SEK 400 in patient’s fees from October 1 until October 16, and now have the opportunity to make use of the monthly based limit for the rest of the month. You no longer need to pay patient’s fees during the remainder of the month, October 17-31, when seeking healthcare from Halland’s County Council and private healthcare providers receiving remuneration from the County Council. If you go to a healthcare provider outside of Halland, the regular fee applies.
At the start of November you pay for your healthcare as normal until you reach SEK 400 again. Thereafter you can choose to make use of the monthly based high-cost limit once more.
The patient’s fees you have paid may be applied to the regular high-cost limit (SEK 900), even if these expenses were previously applied to the monthly based limit (SEK 400).
How does the monthly based high-cost limit work?
When you wish to make use of the monthly based limit for an appointment, present your high-cost card or the receipt showing you’ve already paid or are close to paying SEK 400 during the month. This is necessary, since a special free card for the monthly based limit is not issued. All previous patient’s fees must be paid. If you have forgotten your high-cost card or the receipts showing you have paid SEK 400, the monthly based limit cannot be used for that appointment. The regular fee must be paid. Nor will a subsequent refund be made.
The monthly based high-cost limit applies to you and your family. By the term family, a spouse or cohabitant is meant. Children and adolescents receive medical care free of charge until their twentieth birthday.
